Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve?
We have two locations: North Highlands, serving the greater Sacramento area (Sacramento, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Elk Grove and more), and Mountain View, serving the Peninsula and South Bay (Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Cupertino, San Jose and more).
Which appliances do you repair?
Refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, microwaves, wine coolers, garbage disposals and range hoods — plus AC and heating systems and commercial kitchen and laundry equipment.
Do you repair all brands?
Yes. We service all major brands, from Samsung, LG, Whirlpool and GE to luxury brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Viking and Miele.
How do I book a repair?
Book online in under 2 minutes or call us. Same-day and next-day appointments are often available.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. After diagnosing the problem, the technician explains the repair and gives you the price. Nothing is done until you approve it.
Are you licensed?
Yes. ZR Master Appliance Repair LLC is BBB-accredited and fully licensed.
Do you offer a warranty on repairs?
We generally provide a warranty on repair labor and replacement parts. Coverage, duration and any exclusions depend on the repair and its circumstances. Your technician or manager confirms the applicable terms for your specific service. Please ask for the warranty details before approving the repair.
Is it worth repairing my refrigerator?
Most refrigerators last 10–15 years. If yours is younger than that and the repair costs less than about half the price of a comparable new unit, repair is usually the better choice. Our technician will give you an upfront quote before any work begins.
Why does my freezer keep frosting up?
Usually a worn door gasket letting warm air in, a door left ajar, or a defrost system fault in frost-free models.
Why is my ice maker not making ice?
Check that the ice maker is switched on and the freezer is at 0–5°F. Beyond that, a frozen fill tube, failed water inlet valve, clogged filter or bad ice maker module are the usual causes.
Why won’t my washer drain?
Most often a clogged drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose or a failed drain pump. Front-loaders have a small filter door at the bottom front that should be cleaned periodically.
Why is my dryer running but not heating?
On electric dryers: a broken heating element, thermal fuse, high-limit thermostat or cycling thermostat. On gas dryers: igniter, flame sensor, gas valve coils or thermal fuse. A clogged vent often causes these parts to fail.
Why is there standing water in my dishwasher?
A clogged filter, blocked drain hose or garbage disposal knockout plug, or a failed drain pump.
Why is my oven not heating to the right temperature?
A failing temperature sensor, worn bake element or igniter, or a control board that needs calibration or replacement.
My gas burner keeps clicking — why?
Moisture or food debris on the spark igniter, a misaligned burner cap, or a faulty spark switch or module.
Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?
The glass top can usually be replaced. Stop using a cracked cooktop until it is repaired.
Is it safe to repair a microwave myself?
No. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged. Leave internal repairs to a trained technician.
What temperature should a wine cooler be?
Around 55°F is a common long-term storage temperature for most wines.
My disposal hums but won’t spin — what can I do?
Turn off the power, then use the hex key slot under the unit to free the jam and press the reset button. If it still hums, the motor may need service.
How often should I clean the hood filters?
Every 1–3 months depending on how much you cook. Grease build-up reduces airflow and is a fire risk.
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
At least once a year, more often for large families or long vent runs.
Why is my AC blowing warm air?
Common causes are a dirty filter, a tripped breaker, a failed capacitor or contactor, low refrigerant or a failing compressor.
Why does my furnace turn on and off quickly?
A dirty flame sensor, clogged filter, overheating or thermostat problem are common causes.
Do you work with property managers?
Yes. We service appliances in rental units and multi-family properties and coordinate access with managers and tenants.
Can you help with health inspection temperature issues?
Yes, we diagnose and fix equipment that is not holding safe temperatures.
How often should an ice machine be cleaned?
Most manufacturers recommend cleaning and sanitizing every 6 months, more often in high-use locations.
Do you haul away the old appliance?
Ask when booking — we can arrange removal of the old unit in many areas.
Repair or replace?

| Washer | 10–13 years | Repair pumps, belts, lids; replace if drum/bearings on an old unit |
| Dryer | 10–13 years | Most dryer repairs are worth it |
| Dishwasher | 9–12 years | Repair if under ~7 years |
| Range / oven | 13–15 years | Repair — elements, igniters and sensors are affordable |
